Mythology
From Webbcomic
The world of Webbcomic is deliberately made open to allow for maximum participation. While it does not have a rich backstory or complicated list of rules, there are a few aspects of to keep in mind, whether reading the pages that have been uploaded or creating one's own pages.

Setting
It is important to note that Webbcomic does not take place at any time or place in the history of the planet we call Earth, and hopefully, not in the future of this world. Biology, physics, and chemistry are the same as that of this world for the most part but the geography, ecology, and history of this world do not necessarily correspond with similar instances on Earth. For example, an oak tree will be physically similar to one of our world, but it may grow in an environment that would be unable to support it in the world we know.
In addition, the world of Webbcomic is a pre-industrial society, one where advanced mechanization for the purposes of mass production is near non-existent. This does not mean that all areas of technology are at the same levels of advancement. For instance, the existence of electricity is not only known, but electricity and magnetic fields can be manipulated. Likewise, indoor plumbing is not dissimilar than that of the current Western world. At the same time, refridgeration techniques as we know them are not common knowledge, and air conditioning is not even a concept in this region. In part, this is because winter is not something to be enjoyed, and the benefits of freezing have not yet been discovered.
Please be aware that people from other continents, land masses, or other far away lands may have different levels of technology, but the main characters of Webbcomic are at least, initially, bound by the limits of their technology.
Goddesses
In the region where Webbcomic takes place, there are eight goddesses who are worshipped and oversee the Eight Paths.
- Gale -- Goddess of Wind
- Tide -- Goddess of Water
- Stone -- Goddess of Earth
- Blaze -- Goddess of Fire
- Frost -- Goddess of Winter
- Bloom -- Goddess of Plants
- Volt -- Goddess of Electricity
- Void -- Goddess of Death
These dieties neither compete for worshippers nor exist in harmony, although there are numerous shrines to each of the goddesses. Holy days exist that are centered around one or more of the goddesses. For everyday life, though, the rituals involving the goddesses are near non-existent, and they are more likely to be mentioned in stories than in chants or prayers.
It is important to note that despite being heavily involved with stories of the world's creation, the goddesses have few devotees other than the priestesses who populate the shrines. Furthermore, magic and many other supernatural aspects are often separate from the existence and influence of the goddesses, with rare exceptions.
Magic & Necromancy
Magic and mecromancy are two competing forces in the world of Webbcomic, both of which affect change in the world. Magic is the mystical appeal to the spirits and memories of one's ancestors to direct their energies toward a goal, whereas necromancy uses the spirits directly towards the desire of the caster. For instance, a witch can beseech her foremothers to cast a spell to make a man fall in love with her. A necromancer, on the other hand, can force a symathetic spirit possess the man she loves, or to torture him until he acquiesces.
Sapients
There are many creatures who are known for their intelligence and acknowledge each other as sentient, sapient, and self-aware. They often have at least a partially humanoid appearance. The three most common of these are humans, lamias, and ghouls, although others do exist.
